Honouring the 100th anniversary of Finnish independence and the 175th anniversary of the first Finnish photograph, Photographic Centre Peri offers the public the opportunity to explore the formation of an image in a large camera obscura built into a container. During the summer of 2017, the camera obscura container will be situated in the historic milieu of Turku Cathedral Square, just a stone’s throw away from where doctor Henrik Cajander took the first Finnish photograph in 1842.

During the camera obscura container’s opening hours Peri will organise guided tours and workshops for children and young people as well as dance shows and acrobatic performances which enliven and enhance the experience resulting from the camera obscura phenomenon. During the summer of 2017 the container will also travel through Southwestern Finland, in four different municipalities. Program and schedule of the tour will be announced later.
